Great snowblower

Okay I think Ive stated before that I get home late. So after a harrowing drive into work thru todays freak snowstorm, I guess I kinda was hoping it would all be gone when I got home. Hahaha! I pull into my road and see our Jeep sitting parked on the road, drive past it then see my driveway completely buried in snow with a nice 2.5 foot deposit at the end of the driveway from the snowplow. Im tired from a long day and the snow which was packing snow to begin with has now been sitting there all day and is heavy.
I wish my wife could have filmed me with the Ariens snowblower. It just threw the heavy stuff like it was nothing. I get to the end of the driveway and I smile as the Ariens plows right thru! I have to tell you this is the best investment I have bought for the house.

Winter comes back

It figures eh here I was posting how I was going to put the snowblower away and I wake up Monday morning April 6th to a snow storm. Actually got a little stuck at the end of my driveway. Saw a couple of trucks in the ditch, school buses were cancelled etc. Just yesterday everywhere around was green grass, today a complete blanket of white.

A good winter

Now that it is April, I think I can safely say that I wont need the snowblower anymore. So this is just a review of how this machine did this past winter. We didn't get as much snow as we usually do however when we did get hit with snowstorms it performed flawlessly. On heavy snow the Ariens really performed well. This machine can throw it far too. I even used it on the backyard to create a hill for my little girl to play on. I only did one oil change during the winter, but will do one again either this spring or fall. I can honestly say that this is one of the best purchases I've made for the house. It has really saved me this year as I work late and get home late. So when I get home the plow has usually delivered it's 2 foot snow bank at the end of the driveway, and of course the snow has been falling all day on the rest of the driveway. No worries with my Arien snowblower. I still remember last winter spending long nights breaking my back shovelling for 2 hours in the dark cold night after a long day at work. That is a thing of the past.
Rating 5 stars.

Finally pulled the trigger on a Ariens 927 LE. I was thankful that I was able to get it to fit into my Jeep Liberty. The delivery charge was $50. Had to get it unassembled naturally and without the box. Only took me about 20 minutes to put it together. Read the manual forever as Ive never operated a snow thrower before. There is a lot of stuff to know it seems, specially for regular maintance etc. Will be picking up some gas later today and firing her up to see how it goes. Now that it's sitting in my garage Im not as turned off by the orange colour.

Well tis the season as they say and this year Ive decided to buy a snowblower. Well actually it was last winter when I decided, it was a cold blustery dark night , there I was standing in 2 feet of snow watching as the snowplow delivered another 3 feet to the end of my driveway. With the winter we got last year there was not a snowblower around to be found in Ontario. So this year I thought Id get a bit of a jump. Hahaha, still not many around ! Home Depot had some big sale back in early Sept and from what Ive read they sold a whole wack of them, well presold as they didnt have any in stock. Here it is almost the end of Oct and those same people are still waiting to take delivery.
Ive been researching now on snowblowers for about 2 weeks. Id like to get an ariens as Ive read very little negatives on the machine. However finding one the right size on my budget is proving to be fruitless. I can get a 6hp one but even the dealer hesitated when I asked him if it could handle our winters, he said and I quote " as long as you can get at it early". When I asked about the minimum 2 feet I get from the plows he kinda shrugged. So that said for the same amount of money my options are now the Yardworks 8.5 from Canadian tire. It has some nice options but Yardworks made by MTD has had some bad reviews.
To me if Im spending this much money Id like to get at least 4 trouble free seasons with a machine. My lawnmower is a yardworks which is going into it's 5th season next spring and as far as I can see it will serve another 5 years at this rate.
I guess what I will end up doing regardless of which company I go with I will blog the results etc.
I just dont want to get caught without a snowblower this year.
